Six Sentence Sunday – Lilith

Alex winced as a little girl playing tag screamed piercingly.  Another girl, apparently designated as It, galloped at her heels.  “I don’t think I was ever that noisy.”
Father Luis regarded her, his smile fading.  “No, you weren’t noisy at all.  You wouldn’t even speak for the first six months after we rescued you.”

First Four Friday – Lilith

Chapter 22

A week after failing to destroy the Segreto warrior and her protectors at the hospital, Lilith stood on the playground of the Segreto compound.  She stared at the huddled buildings before her with an air of predatory delight.  She scented the air like a lioness readying for the kill.  All she needed was to find the prey.

Six Sentence Sunday – Willow in the Desert

Carli laughed.  “Me, a warrior.”
Gordon tried to figure out why she found the idea funny.  It was true; she was determined to destroy the Old Ones, even at the risk of her own life.  Battling impossible odds so humans could someday rule their own world again, taking the fight to the aliens that had defeated every army on Earth.  Despite her short stature, Carli Black Elk seemed to him an avenging angel, wielding guns and explosives instead of a flaming sword.

First Four Friday – Willow in the Desert

Chapter 12

Awash in the truck’s headlights, Amanda crouched over the burnt remains of former Corporal Jeffrey Tupper.  In her fused-fingered hand, she clutched the dogtags he’d worn with pride even after he’d reached the late stages of Becoming.  Her whole body shook with rage.
She shrieked at the star-pocked sky.  “How many of us have you bastards done this to?”

Six Sentence Sunday – The Willow and the Stone

“Leo Black Elk,” Geraldine said, her voice as sweet as the poisoned side of Snow White’s apple.
“Mrs. Short.”  Leo dipped his head.  Something about the female Southern accent always made him want to bow; he settled for a respectful nod.
“You didn’t join us for church services this morning.”  She swept her arm to indicate the space they stood in, an open cavern in the center of the Rock that served as the dining room and meeting area where Geraldine conducted prayer services.

Six Sentence Sunday – Lilith’s Return (WIP)

A spike in men’s deaths in coastal North Carolina.  Where the Catholic Church’s American arm of the Segreto once headquartered.  Where Alex and Lilith had fought.

Coincidence.  Has to be.

First Five Friday – Lilith’s Return

Chapter 8

The North Carolina morning sun was bright and cheerful, daring anything nefarious to try and make it something besides a glamorous day.  Lena thought it would get all the darkness it could handle before the sun had made its arc halfway through the sky.  Still, the spring cheer was welcome, lending hope that the perfect light might be a harbinger of victory.

The time to face Lilith had come.
